Teach Me How To Cry

Teach Me How To Cry

Oh, mama,

Oh, papa,

Oh, lord,

I've forgotten,

No book has the answer,

I feel no pleasure,

Can you fix me,

I plead to be me, the young me,

I remember when I was a kid,

When I could cry out a river,

And no one would bat an eye at me,

When I could share my frustrations,

I'm grown now,

But I wanna be a child now,

I wanna cry like a child,

I wanna hug you like I would,

So, can you teach me how to?

Mama, you taught me to love,

Papa, you taught me to care,

Lord, you taught me to persevere,

So, can you please teach me to cry again?

Because I wanna live a life,

Where I can feel again,

Where I can cry again.

As people grow up they often forget to cry and openly express their emotions. It is vital to show emotional vulnerability even though society often imparts an ideology of not crying. This poem is from a perspective of a grown man who wants to be like his younger self so that he can openly express his emotions to his loved ones.
